After waiting so long for Ikuto to return, Amu thinks that maybe his promise to her was a lie. An Empty Promise. But what will happen when an old memory comes back to her.
-----------------------------------
As a pink haired walked down the cold street she checked her watch, 12:00. Midnight.
She merely shrugged and kept walking. She wasn’t going anywhere, nor was she interested in going anywhere. She just walked down the deserted street. Even if she was alone, she didn’t fear thieves, or men out for a late night stroll. This part of town was abandoned after a huge fire struck it. Her bangs fell over her face as she walked further into the ashes. Her golden eyes glittering in the soft light of the moon. Her long coat dragging against the burnt bits of wood. She decided she should head back home soon, but she didn’t want to leave. She had too much on her mind and needed a chance to clear it. Too many lies filled her head. That’s the reason she came to this ghost town. It was one place where she could think without people forcing to say or act in a certain way that she didn’t want to act in. Where she could think freely.
Though she did feel a little lonely without her guardian characters, she kept walking. Thinking about the one thing she hated most. Promises. Promises in themselves were a good thing, but some where totally different. And that’s what she hated. Empty promises.
She had lost count of all the promises that were made to her and broken. Even small promises such as ‘I’ll let you borrow my favorite book tomorrow’ or ‘I’ll go to the movies with you next time, I promise’. Not matter how small or stupid they were, it still hurt that they weren’t kept.
She felt a tear roll down her cheek. Shocked, she brought her hand up to where the wetness was pouring from her eyes. But at this moment she didn’t care if she cried until her makeup melted off of her face. She just wanted to let all of her bottled emotions explode out of her. Four and a half years was too long to contain a person’s emotions. Four and a half years ago a promise was made to her. And it wasn’t kept. It was the one empty promise that had hurt her the most. ‘I’ll make you fall for me’ ‘I’ll come back, I promise’.
She felt more tears fall from her cheeks and drop to the ground below her. She felt her knees go weak and fell to the ground. The same place she had visited as a child. A rundown amusement park filled with wonderful memories. Years ago she had come here with a teenage, and now twenty one, year old boy named Tsukiyomi Ikuto. Six months later he had declared he was going to search for his missing father. A father who had left his family, a father who had abandoned him, a father who left him what he needed to find him. A violin and hope. Hope that he would get to see his father again. But that hope only filled one heart, while another was left to suffer the loss of a good friend, and maybe even more than that. And an empty promise was made.
The girl forced herself to bottle up her emotions once again because it was too much for her to handle now. She slowly rose from the ground covered in ashes of what used to be here. Two months after Ikuto had left the amusement park caught on fire and was reduced to nothing, in less than thirty minutes. When she heard this she wanted to cry. She wanted to sob. She wanted to do anything but what she did; close herself off from sadness and pain. Act like it never happened and nothing had ever changed. She had never met a blue haired boy years ago. She had never fallen for him. She had never broken her heart. No matter how hard she tried to convince herself that, the hole in her heart still wouldn’t close. It was cut open and ripped out as Ikuto’s departure sunk in.
She took deep breathes to calm herself, but ended up inhaling ash. She coughed several times and wiped her face on her coat sleeve. It was time to close off her heart. She couldn’t bare any more of this pain and wanted to forget everything. She didn’t want to remember promises with no meaning. That were only said to comfort someone and would never be fulfilled.
She started to walk away from the deserted park, but stopped mid step. She had one more thing to say before she left. She took a deep breath and turned back to the ash.
“You lied.”
Was all she said. The pink haired girl turned back around and was heading back home. Though she didn’t want it to be true, it was. Ikuto, the one she had loved but never confessed to, had lied to her. Whether it was intentional or not, it was a lie. And it hurt. Over time she realized it wasn’t true, it was merely meant to comfort her as he left and was never meant to be kept. Just another empty promise made to her.
She looked up at the moon and was about to leave when a noise came from behind her. She instantly stiffened. No one was supposed to be here. It was an empty, deserted, cold area no one went to.
“I didn’t.” A voice echoed.
Her eyes widened as she heard the voice. It was the same as before, only deeper, older and was spoke as soft as a whisper.
“I didn’t lie to you.”
She slowly turned to where the voice came from. A shadowy figure was standing in the center of the burned amusement park.
“I….Iku….”
She voice trailed off uncertainly. It couldn’t really be….Ikuto….could it? He had left years ago to find his father. The figure walked towards her and was bathed in moonlight. A tall, boy stood several feet away from her. His hair was slightly longer, darker but still the same. His eyes the same deep blue they had always been and his face was no longer filled with a smirk. It was blank, but his eyes were careful.
“Is that really….. Are you really…..?”
She hesitated.
“‘Are you really’ who?” The boy asked.
“Ikuto…. Are you really…Ikuto?”
“What do you think?” The faintest of smirks made its way to his face.
“…You came back…..” Was all she could say before her body ran towards him on its own. She jumped at him, wrapped her arms around his waist and clung to him. He looked a little taken back but returned her hug. After a moment of silence the pink haired girl spoke.
“Why….?”
“Why what?” He asked.
“You were able to come back…why?” She said, hiding her tear stained face in his shirt. He chuckled softly and stroked her hair.
“I found my father.”
“That’s great!”
“And I had to come back.”
“Really? Why?”
This time he laughed, and she looked up at him, puzzled.
“You really don’t know? You’re so dense!” He smirked, ruffling her hair.
“Hey!” She protested.
“I missed you of course.” He said seriously.
“You mi-?”
“I had to come back to you.” His crystal eyes held hers and she felt her face heat up.
“W-Well…..of course I missed you too!”
“I can tell.” He said softly. She turned away and looked at the ground. “You missed me a lot.”
“Yeah…. I did.” She said shuffling her foot in the dirt. “Too much.” She whispered.
“What was that?”
She sighed. “I missed you…too much.”
“‘Too much’?”
“Yes. Ikuto I-”
She was cut off when Ikuto touched her cheek and brought his face down to hers. His lips slowly pressed onto hers and he closed his eyes. Her eyes widened but soon closed too as he kissed her. An actual kiss. Not like the one at the airport all those years ago. A kiss on the lips. He pulled away and smiled slightly.
“I love you.”
He blinked. “What was that?”
“I love you, Tsukiyomi Ikuto.” She said, her bangs covering her eyes. She hesitantly looked up and saw a gentle smile light his face.
“I love you too, Hinamori Amu.”
She blushed, but held his gaze.
This was one promise that was actually kept, and that promise was the one she had always wanted to come true.

My first Amuto one-shot!
I wanted to do something about an 'empty promise' because I really hate it when someone promises something, but they don't follow through. So it's an 'empty' promise.
So I thought I would write an Amuto one-shot about his return. It's not very....lovey-dovey, but it's not that bad :meow: But it was kinda hard, because there are sooooo many of his return! My guides for this story were the Shugo Chara manga, fan fics (but I DID NOT copy them, I made up this story myself) and the song 'Kokoro'
I don't like how I wrote the kiss scene, but I tried
I was listening to the song 'Love is War' (serveral versions of it) when I wrote this, so I would be in the mood. :D
Btw, I'm sorry for not updating my 'A Week of Ikuto-sensei'!! :forgiveme: but I'll try to soon, ok? :D
I hope you liked my one-shot!
I don't own Shugo Chara or Shugo Chara Doki!
